Uzbekistan to Legalize Stablecoin Payments and Tokenized Securities by 2026
Uzbekistan will introduce a legal framework for stablecoin payments starting January 1, 2026, according to a Ministry of Justice announcement. The Central Asian nation’s regulatory sandbox will allow domestic companies to issue tokenized stocks and securities under oversight by the National Agency of Perspective Projects (NAPP) and the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
The NAPP, which reports directly to the president, will determine the sandbox’s operational rules. Pilot projects will test distributed ledger technology (DLT) for payment systems, signaling a strategic push toward blockchain integration in financial markets.
